Chong Hing Bank joins hands with UnionPay to Waive Cash Withdrawal Fee for the Elderly in Mainland China

In light of the COVID-19 pandemic,some of Hong Kong’s senior citizens living in Mainland China may not be able to return to Hong Kong to collect the government’s cash assistance. In order to provide them with greater convenience, Chong Hing Bank is joining hands with UnionPay International to waive the cash withdrawal fee for Hong Kong’s senior citizens living in Mainland China for three months starting from June 2020. The details are as follows:

1 June to 31 August, 2020 (both dates inclusive)

Cash withdrawal fee
For cash withdrawal via "UnionPay" ATM machines in Mainland China, the amount withdrawn will be converted into Hong Kong Dollars and deducted from the registered Chong Hing Bank Hong Kong Dollars Deposit Account. A handling fee of HK$25 will be charged for each withdrawal transaction made on "UnionPay" ATM machines in Mainland China.

Cash withdrawal fee waiver
The handling fee of HK$25 per transaction for the cash withdrawals in Mainland China will be deducted from the account, and will be credited to the customer's withdrawal account within seven working days after the withdrawal.

Beneficiary
Senior citizens aged 65 or above who are holders of Hong Kong Identity Card.

Through this arrangement, the Bank hopes to minimise the cost for senior citizens to withdraw cash in Mainland China. Besides those who receive the Social Welfare Department’s cash assistance, all other senior citizens of Hong Kong can also benefit from this arrangement.
