Account Enquiry

1. Can I check the balance and transaction history of all my accounts?
A:
You can view the balance and the latest transaction history of all your pre-registered accounts under your own name.
2. How far back can I view the transaction history?
A:
The enquiry period of different account types are listed below:

1. What types of remittance transactions can I enquire?
A:
You can check the inward and outward remittance transaction records.

You can check the remittance transaction records within the past 6 months.
3.
Why is my remittance record not shown?
A:
Generally, according to the Bank’s record, if any inward and outward remittance has been successfully executed / successfully cancelled / rejected by the Bank, customers can check the remittance record in the next working day. In addition, customers can download the remittance record via Internet Banking.
4.
Can I download the remittance record?
A:
Yes. Internet Banking enables the downloading of remittance record.

Fund Transfer

Fund Transfer within Chong Hing Bank
1. What types of "Fund Transfer" can I make?
A:
You can arrange fund transfer to:
  • designated accounts under your own name,
  • registered third party accounts, and
  • unregistered accounts (two-factor authentication is required).

Please note that the above service is limited to fund transfer between same currency accounts.

2. Can I cancel the instruction for the fund transfer?
A:
Any instruction once accepted and processed by the Bank shall not be cancelled, amended, supplemented or revoked by the customer.
3. Is fund transfer service free of charge?
A:
This service is free of charge.
4. Is there any daily transaction limit?
A:
There is no maximum transaction limit for fund transfer to designated accounts held by the same account holder. However, for the maximum aggregated daily limit of online fund transfer to registered third party accounts or non-registered accounts for each bank account, please refer to the following table:

1. What are CHATS and Electronic Clearing Service?

With Internet Banking Services, you can transfer funds from Chong Hing Bank to other banks in Hong Kong via CHATS or Electronic Clearing Service.

Any application instruction submitted after 7 pm from Mondays to Fridays, and on Saturdays, Sundays and Public holidays will be processed on the next clearing day.

Processing Time Required

For instructions accepted between 9:00 am to 4:30 pm, it will be processed and completed within the same day.

  • Instruction accepted before 2:00pm will be processed on the same day. Funds could be credited to recipient's account within the same working day, subject to the recipient bank's arrangement.
  • Instructions accepted after 2:00pm will be processed on the next working day.

2. Can I cancel the instruction for the fund transfer?

Any instruction once accepted and processed by the Bank shall not be cancelled, amended, supplemented or revoked by the customer.

4. Is there any daily transaction limit?
A:
The maximum aggregated daily transaction limits (in HKD or equivalent) of online Telegraphic Transfer (registered account overseas only) and fund transfer (registered or non-registered account in Hong Kong) to other banks for each bank's account are as follows:

With the use of two factor authentication tools, you can transfer fund to unregistered other bank's account.
6. How do I register a third party account in internet banking?
A:
If you would like to register a third party account in Chong Hing Internet Banking, please visit any branch of the Bank in person or click here to submit application

Online Telegraphic Transfer
1. Can I transfer fund to other non-registered overseas bank’s account?
A:
With the use of online Telegraphic Transfer, you can transfer fund to the registered overseas bank's account.

Your pre-registered account will be removed if there is no transaction performed in the past 36 months. Please visit any of our branches to register the account again.

2. How do I register for using Telegraphic transfer service?
A:
If you would like to register for using telegraphic transfer service, please visit any branch of the Bank in person or click here to submit application.

Your pre-registered bill will be removed if there is no transaction performed in the past 36 months. If you would like to register the bill again, please visit any branch of the Bank in person or click here to submit application.

3. Can I cancel the instruction for the fund transfer?
A:
Any instruction once accepted and processed by the Bank shall not be cancelled, amended, supplemented or revoked by the customer.
4. Is there any charge for the Telegraphic Transfer Service?
A:
Yes. Cable Charge is HKD 110 per transaction.
5. Is there any cut-off time for the Telegraphic Transfer Service?

7. Are there any restrictions on individual accounts holders’remittance of RMB to their Mainland accounts?
A:
The Bank only supports instructions made by individual account holders who are Hong Kong residents to remit RMB to his/her own mainland accounts, and the account name of the customer’s beneficiary account in the Mainland must be identical with that of his / her RMB savings account in Chong Hing Bank.. RMB Remittance service is not applicable to non-Hong Kong residents and joint account holders. Hong Kong resident can remit up to a maximum of RMB80,000 per person per day. Customer's daily outward remittance amount may be checked by the Clearing Bank for RMB business.
8. When will the Mainland beneficiary account receive the remitted RMB funds?
A:
The RMB remittance instructions accepted before 3pm, Monday to Friday (“cut-off time”) will be executed on the same day. Instructions accepted after the cut-off time or on Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays will be executed on the next working day. The time when the beneficiary bank receives the remitted funds will depend on the operation of the beneficiary bank.

Foreign Currency Exchange

1. What type of currencies can I buy or sell?
A:
You can buy or sell Renminbi and various types of foreign currencies, namely AUD, CAD, CHF, EUR, GBP, JPY, NZD and USD.

Please note that foreign currency exchange is only applicable to the designated accounts under your own name, and one of the involved accounts must be a HKD Current or Savings Account.

As for the exchange of Renminbi, the debit and credit accounts must be RMB Multi-Currency Savings and HKD Current or Savings Account under your own name. Such exchange service is eligible to Personal Internet Banking customers only. Corporate Internet Banking customers are not eligible to this service.

2. Is there any cut-off time or effective time for Foreign Currency Exchange instructions?
A:
Yes. You can only perform Foreign Currency Exchange transactions from 8:30 am to 6:00 pm on Monday to Friday and from 8:30 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday (excluding Sundays and public holidays).

Please note that the T.T. rates quoted in "Rate Information " are for reference only. You will be notified of the actual T.T. rate prior to your final confirmation of the transaction.

3. Are there any daily transaction limits for Currency Exchange?

Bill Payment

1. What types of bill can I pay?
A:
You can pay various kinds of bills to over 700 major merchants in Hong Kong by transferring fund from your Chong Hing Bank Savings / Current Banking Accounts or Credit Card Account, including electricity, water supply, town gas, tax, insurance, telecommunications, government services and school fees.

2. Do I need to pre-register any bills?
A:
You have to use two-factor authentication or pre-register the bills at our branches for paying the bills, excluding those merchants in categories as "Primary or Secondary Education", "Post-secondary or Specialised Education", "Government or Statutory Organisation" and "Public Utility".
3. How do I register for using two-factor authentication?
A:
You can register for Two-factor Authentication Service with mobile phone number to receive SMS-Based One-Time Password. Please visit any branch of the Bank in person or click here to submit application.
4. How do I pre-register the bills?
A:
If you would like to pre-register bills, please visit any branch of the Bank in person to process the registration or click here to submit application.

Your pre-registered bill will be removed if there is no transaction performed in the past 36 months. If you would like to register the bill again, please visit any branch of the Bank in person or click here to submit application.

5. Is there any daily transaction limit?
A:
The daily maximum limit for bill payment is HK$99,999 per account. The limit is to be shared amongst Internet Banking and Mobile Banking bill payment services.

The daily maximum limit for tax payment is HK$500,000 per account. The limit is to be shared amongst Internet Banking and Mobile Banking tax payment services.

Pay Tax Tips

6. Is there any charge for the Bill Payment Service?
A:
Payments made by Credit Card of the Bank to the bills of merchant categories of "Banking and Credit Card Services", "Credit Services" , "Securities Broker" or "Hong Kong Jockey Club" will be treated as Cash Advance transaction. For the Bank's charge of cash advance fee, please refer to Chong Hing Credit Card Charges Table and Chong Hing UnionPay Dual Currency Credit Card Charges Table.

 

7. How to set up “Forward-dated Payment” service?
A:
You just need to input a future “Payment Date” up to 45 days in advance inside “Pay Bill” input page in order to set up a forward-dated bill payment instruction.
8. How long can be pre-set for the forward-dated bill payment instruction?
A:
Up to 45 days in advance can be set for a forward-dated bill payment instruction.
9. How to know the forward-dated bill payment instruction is successful processed?
A:
You can provide an email address in the “Email Address for Receiving Notification” field to setup an email notification for free. An email notification will be sent to you upon the execution of the forward-dated payment instruction. You may also review last 45 days or 120 forward-dated payment records inside “Forward-dated Payment History”.
10. Can “Forward-dated Payment” service setup on Saturday, Sunday or public holiday?
A:
Forward-dated bill payment instruction can only setup on working days from Mondays to Fridays, except Saturdays, Sundays and public holidays.
11. Can I cancel the instruction for the payment?
A:
Any same day instruction once accepted and processed by the Bank shall not be cancelled, amended, supplemented or revoked by the customer. Your Forward-dated Payment instruction can be amended before the specified Payment Date. For example, you have to amend the payment instruction on or before 3 Jan if the payment is scheduled to be paid on 4 Jan.

e-Bill

1. What is the difference between e-Bill Service and Bill Payment Service in Internet Banking Services?
A:
e-Bill Service includes bill presentment and payment functions (the acceptance of electronic payment is subject to merchants’ final decision). Bill Payment Service is for payment only.
2. What types of e-Bill can I pay?
A:
You can pay various kinds of e-Bill that you have registered through Chong Hing Bank by transferring fund from your Chong Hing Bank Savings / Current Banking Accounts or Credit Card Account.

Note: Some merchants only accept payment from Savings / Current Banking Accounts.

 

3. Do I need to pre-register any e-Bill?
A:
You have to register the e-Bill through Chong Hing Bank Internet Banking Services before paying the e-Bill, excluding the e-Donation. Pre-registration is a one-time process. After successful registration, merchants will regularly send e-bill to your Chong Hing Bank Internet Banking Services account. Two-factor authentication is required when you register e-Bill of high risk merchants.

Personal information you provided during e-Bill registration is for approval by merchants purpose only. It will be provided to third parties*. Personal information will be stored by Chong Hing Bank until you de-register the e-Bill.

4. How do I pre-register e-Bill?
A:
You can pre-register e-Bill by selecting “e-Bill Registration” in Chong Hing Bank Internet Banking Services. After you have entered your personal information, the request will be sent to merchant through third parties* for approval. Approval time is determined by the merchants.

5. Can I cancel the instruction of e-Bill’s payment instruction?
A:
Any instruction once accepted and processed by the Bank shall not be cancelled, amended, supplemented or revoked by the customer.
6. Is there any charge for the e-Bill Service?
A:
Payments made by Credit Card of the Bank to the bills of merchant categories of "Banking and Credit Card Services", "Credit Services" , "Securities Broker" or "Hong Kong Jockey Club" will be treated as Cash Advance transaction. 7. Can I pre-register e-Bill for third party bill owner?
A:
Yes. You can register e-Bill for third party bill owner by providing third party bill owner’s information (the acceptance of the registration is subject to merchants’ final decision).
8. Is there any daily transaction limit?
A:
The maximum daily limit is HK$99,999 per account for the e-Bill. The limit is shared with Internet Banking, ATM, and Telephone Banking Bill Payment Services.
9. How long can I view the e-Bill history?
A:
You can only view e-Bills received within the past 12 months. e-Bills issued over 12 months ago will not be stored.
10. How can I de-register e-Bill?
A:
You can de-register e-Bill by selecting “Delete Bill” under “e-Bill registration”.
11. How can I receive e-Donation receipt?
A:
You can request e-Donation receipt by providing the donor name and email address for receiving the e-Donation receipt directly from the charity organization.
12. Can I continue to receive paper bills after registering the e-Bill service for Water Bill and Demand for Rates and/or Government Rent?
A:
You will continue to receive Water Bill and Demand for Rates and/or Government Rent under the existing channel.

13. Can I register the e-Bill service if I have already subscribed for the e-Bills from WSD or RVD?
A:
Yes, you can. e-Bill service provides an additional channel for you to view and pay e-Bills through one platform.
14. When should I register for e-Bill service if I would like to receive e-Bill summaries for my next Water Bill or Demand for Rates and/or Government Rent through e-Bill service?
A:
For Demand for Rates and/or Government rent, you should register on or before 5th of March, June, September or December. For Water Bill, please check your last bill for the bill issuance date. You should register 2 weeks before the issuance of your next Water Bill through e-Bill service.

Fixed Deposit

1. What kinds of Fixed Deposit transaction can I perform?
A:
You can enquire your Fixed Deposit account balance, effect Fixed Deposit placement and change maturity instruction.

Please note that Chong Hing Bank San Francisco Branch Fixed Deposit, Chong Hing Finance Fixed Deposit and USD Swap Account are not covered on Internet Banking Services.

2. Is there any cut-off time or effective time for Fixed Deposit placement and change maturity instruction?
A:
Yes. You can only perform Fixed Deposit placement, renewal and changing maturity from 9:00 am to 7:30 pm (Mondays to Fridays) and from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm (Saturdays) excluding Public holidays.

For changing maturity instruction, the instruction must be submitted at least one business day before the maturity date.

Please note that all interest rates quoted in "Rate Information" are for reference only. You will be notified of the actual rate prior to your final confirmation of the transaction.

3. What is the minimum deposit amount for Fixed Deposit Placement?

4. What do I select from Change Maturity Instruction?
A:
3 maturity instructions are available for your selection, they are:
  • renew principal and interest at bank's prevailing rate;
  • renew principal at bank's prevailing rate and transfer the interest to designated account;
  • transfer principal and interest to designated account.
5. When will the renewed maturity instruction become effective?
A:
The renewed maturity instruction will be effective immediately once the transaction is confirmed to be successful. If you are in doubt, you can view the renewed maturity instruction under "Account Overview".

Credit Card Services (For Personal Customers only)

1. Can I check my Credit Card transaction history?
A:
Yes. You can view your latest monthly statement under Credit Card – Current Statement. For the recent transactions that are not shown under the last month's statement, you may find the record(s) under Credit Card – Unbilled Transaction.
2. How do I settle my outstanding balance?
A:
You can arrange fund transfer from your HKD designated account to your Credit Card account.

Please note that the cut-off time for credit card payment is 7:00 pm (Mondays to Fridays) excluding Saturdays, Sundays and Public holidays. Any payment made after the cut-off time will be regarded as payment made on the next clearing day.

3. Can I transfer money from my Credit Card to other designated account?
A:
No. To protect our customers, the Bank does not provide this service online. If you need to make this transfer, please apply via any of our branches.
4. How do I perform Credit Card Cash Advance transaction?
A:
You can use the "Fund Transfer" service to transfer the money from your Credit Card account to your designed own account.

Cash advance handling fee will be charged to your Credit Card account.

Investment Profile Questionnaire

1. Who can use the Investment Profile Questionnaire?
A:
All Chong Hing Bank customers who have successfully applied or activated Internet Banking Services and hold an Investment Account can use the Investment Profile Questionnaire.
2.
If I am not a Chong Hing Bank customer, can I complete the investment profile questionnaire via Chong Hing Bank Website without applying Internet Banking Services?
A:
No, you cannot. You must be a Chong Hing Bank customer and have successfully applied or activated Internet Banking Services in order to complete the investment profile questionnaire via Internet Banking Services. In addition, you must logon to Internet Banking Services and select “Investment Profile Questionnaire” from the main menu in order to complete the investment profile questionnaire.

If I am not a Chong Hing Bank Investment Account customer, can I complete the investment profile questionnaire via Internet Banking Services?
A:
No, you cannot. You must first visit our branch to open an Investment Account (the investment profile questionnaire must be completed at our branch for the first time).Afterwards, the investment profile questionnaire can be updated via Internet Banking Services.
4.
Can I complete the investment profile questionnaire via mobile phone or mobile app?
A:
No, you cannot complete the investment profile questionnaire via mobile phone or mobile app.
5.
Is Investment Profile Questionnaire applicable to all Investment Account?
A:
The Investment Profile Questionnaire is applicable to Personal Banking customers and Individual / Joint Private Banking customers.
6.
When I subscribed iBond, I have only opened an Investment Account without completing the investment profile questionnaire. Can I complete the investment profile questionnaire via Internet Banking Services for the first time?
A:
Yes, you can. Personal Banking customers can complete the investment profile questionnaire for the first time via Internet Banking Services (only applicable to customers who had subscribed iBond previously). The relationship manager of Private Banking business will arrange Individual / Joint Private Banking customers to complete the investment profile questionnaire at the same time during account opening. Therefore, Individual / Joint Private Banking customers cannot complete the investment profile questionnaire for the first time via Internet Banking Services.
7.
Is it a 24-hour service for completing investment profile questionnaire via Internet Banking Services?
A:
Except during the system maintenance period, you can complete the investment profile questionnaire anytime via Internet Banking Services.
8.
Are the questions and assessment methodology the same when I complete the investment profile questionnaire via different channels?
A:
Yes, the questions and assessment methodology are the same, notwithstanding, when you complete the investment profile questionnaire via different channels.
9.
Can I get the score and result (i.e. the risk tolerance level and risk profile) immediately after I complete the investment profile questionnaire via Internet Banking Services?
A:
Yes, you can get the score and result instantly.
10.
Can I lower my risk tolerance level after I completed the investment profile questionnaire via Internet Banking Services?
A:
Yes, you can lower your risk tolerance level after you have completed the investment profile questionnaire via Internet Banking Services.
11.
Do I need to print and sign the questionnaire and return it to any branches for confirmation after I completed the investment profile questionnaire via Internet Banking Services?
A:
No. You can follow the instruction to save or print the questionnaire for reference instantly.
12.
Will I receive any notification letters or electronic messages after I completed the investment profile questionnaire via Internet Banking Services?
A:
No. However, you can check the status of the investment profile questionnaire via Internet Banking Services, for example, the validity, score and result (i.e. the risk tolerance level and risk profile), but not including the questionnaire and result in the record.
13.
Will I receive alert regarding the due date of my investment profile questionnaire via Internet Banking Services?
A:
If your investment profile questionnaire is overdue, an alert message will be displayed in the “Latest Alert” on the homepage after you logon to Internet Banking Services to remind you to update the questionnaire.
14.
If I am not a Chong Hing Bank customer or I have not activated Internet Banking Services, can I experience how to complete the investment profile questionnaire?
A:
Yes, you can visit Chong Hing Bank’s Internet Banking Services logon page and select “View Demo” to experience how to complete the investment profile questionnaire.

Cashier's Order / Demand Draft and Cheque Book Services

1. Can I purchase Cashier's Order / Demand Draft online?
A:
Yes. You can pre-order Cashier's Order / Demand Draft under the "Online Application" function. Please visit your designated collection branch on the next clearing day to sign the form and collect your order / draft.
2. Is there any cut off time set for pre-ordering Cashier's Order, Demand Draft?
A:
Yes. The daily cut-off time for pre-ordering is 7:00 pm (Mondays to Fridays) excluding Saturdays, Sundays and Public holidays.
3. Will the Bank charge me immediately after pre-ordering?
A:
No. The transaction amount and service charge will be deducted from your account when you visit our branch and the rate would also be fixed at that time.

If the Cashier's Order / Demand Draft is not collected within 5 clearing days, we shall cancel the transaction with no service charge deducted from your account.

4. How do I apply for Cheque Book?
A:
You can apply Cheque Book through the "Online Application" function. One Cheque Books will be sent to you by surface mail.

Please contact us immediately if you do not receive any Cheque Books after 14 days from the date of application.

5. Is application of Cheque Book free of charge?
A:
Yes. It is free of charge.

Rate Information

1. Are the rates displayed at "Rate Information" regularly updated?
A:
Yes. The rates are updated regularly. However, they are for reference only.

Internet Banking Transaction Enquiry

1. Does "Internet Banking Transaction Enquiry" reflect all the latest transactions?
A:
Yes. All successfully completed transactions will be displayed.
2. How do I know whether my instruction has been executed successfully?
A:
Except pre-ordering Cashier's Order, Demand Draft and Telegraphic Transfer, a reference number will be given to you after the transaction is being executed. You can confirm your transaction with the reference number under "Internet Banking Transaction Enquiry".
3. How far back can I view the Internet Banking Services transaction history?
A:
You can enquire the last 30 successful Internet Banking transaction history within the last 6 months.
4. What is "Pending Transaction" and "Approval History Enquiry"?
A:
To allow "Joint Authorities" user to manage the pending transactions, two more functions are provided, they are:
  • "Pending Transaction" and
  • Approval History Enquiry" (including those already approved and pending for approval).

Please note that each user is only allows to enquire those transactions on the accounts which she / he has the right to access.

Investment Account Enquiry

1. Can I enquire my Investment Account via Internet Banking?
A:
Yes. Customer can now add your investment account under via “Add / Delete Account “ on Internet Banking, and then you can enquire details of your investment account at “Account Enquiry” via Internet Banking and Mobile Banking. 
(Note: Applicable to Single Authority customers only. For Joint Account customers, please fill in "Chong Hing Internet Banking Services – Application / Change Request (Single Logon Mode)" for investment joint account registration.)
2. Which type of Investment products I can enquire?
A:
You can enquire details of your subscribed investment products, such as the holding records of bonds issued by governments, corporations, or other issuers, funds, structured products and Currency Linked Deposit via Internet Banking and Mobile Banking.
3. I have just subscribed an investment product at the branch, will the related record be displayed instantly on Internet Banking?
A:
It will not be displayed instantly. Since there are different settlement periods for investment products, the subscription record will be displayed after the completion of the settlement process. Usually, it will take 3 to 5 working days.
4. Will the market price of investment product update instantly?
A:
It will not be updated instantly. As the update time for different investment products are not the same, you may refer to the last update time, which is shown in the brackets under market price of the investment product.
